What you do not want done to yourself, do not do unto others.

- The Golden Rule as told by Confucius

Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship

The staff of Center Cass District 66 is pleased to announce the establishment of ethics education as a part of our mission. Using the principles developed by the Joesephson Institute as a guide, it is our goal to incorporate a standard of conduct and decision making grounded in basic accepted values. Trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship - these six core ethical values, which the Josesphson Institute calls the "Pillars of Character," provide objective criteria to guide our effort. The standard of conduct that comes from these values represents the ground rules of ethics and therefore ethical decision making. We believe that incorporating the Six Pillars of Character into our schools can dramatically improve the ethical quality of our actions and decisions and thus the character of our students. It is important to point out that no single individual, agency, or school can successfully accomplish the task of character development in our youth. This job must be a combined effort of all parents, churches, government agencies, and community leaders, as well as schools. We need your help and support in this important effort.
