Affective Component Throughout the school year, affective issues are addressed at regular intervals through various activities and discussions. The objective of these activities is to recognize the unique affective needs of persons with superior intellectual ability. The goals are that the student will: Recognize and accept her/his own abilities, interests, and limitations. Recognize and accept the abilities, interests and limitations of others. Recognize the need for adequate social relationships. Develop appropriate problem solving skills. Develop his/her abilities without regard to race, sex or ethnic group. Understand the attitude of parents, peers and teachers toward the gifted child. Understand the need to set realistic goals and to evaluate them realistically. Understand the need to be challenged. Interact with intellectual peers. |
