Math Expectations

I. Numeration and Counting
Students will be able to:
A. Read three-digit numbers
B. Read ordinal numbers
C. Verbally count beyond 100 by 1"s, 2's, 5's, and 10"s
D. Count to 100 using tally marks
E. Fold paper to determine ½ and ¼
F. Use the calculator to count by a given number using the repeat key
G. Identify ¼, 1/3, and 1/6 using concrete materials and pictorial representations


II. Operations and Relations

Students will be able to:
A. Identify fact families for addition and subtraction
B. Perform oral and written facts drills for sums and differences (0-18)
C. Write number facts for single digits (number sentences)
D. Add and subtract with 10's from any number
E. Find a missing number in a sequence
F. Identify and write number models for story problems or pictorial representations.


III. Exploring Data
Students will be able to:
A. Collect and graph data
B. Make predictions from collected data


IV. Geometry
Students will be able to:
A. Identify points and segments
B. Identify and draw plane figures
C. Name geometric solids
D. Recognize symmetry


V. Measurement
Students will be able to:
A. Identify tools for measuring
B. Use a ruler to measure in inches and feet
C. Identify the hour and minute hand
D. Read time in hours and minutes
E. Use the calendar for identifying dates in standard and numerical formats
F. Use a thermometer to read temperature


VI. Patterns, Rules, and Functions

Students will be able to:
A. Solve problems involving pattern identification and complete the patterns
B. Extend a number or picture pattern for multiple sets
C. Identify the rule for a specific function


VII. Money

Students will be able to:A. Identify coins
B. Count by pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters
C. Write total money values up to $2
D. Make money exchanges
E. Determine money equivalents
