Students will:

Make predictions using the cover, title, and pictures of a book

Follow left to right progression of written text

Recognize that sentences are made up of separate words

Begin to write simple sentences

Distinguish letters from words

Identify letters of the alphabet and connect them to their sounds

Write letters of the alphabet

Write first and last name using correct uppercase & lowercase letters

Rhyme words

Recognize common sight words

Use developmental spelling to construct words and sentences

Identify basic punctuation marks

Demonstrate one to one correspondence in written text

Sequence the beginning, middle and end of a story

Distinguish between fiction and non-fiction

Discuss the setting, characters, and events of a story

Listen attentively to stories

Follow two to three step directions accurately

Communicate personal needs clearly

Speak audibly and clearly

Express ideas to the group

Stay on topic

Take turns & listen when others are speaking
