Welcome to 7th grade at Lakeview!

The 7th grade teachers are Mr. Dvorak, Mr. Dodd, and Mrs. Andreatta. Our curriculum for the first trimester includes track, golf, football, bowling, and volleyball, in addition to fitness activites. Activity grades are based on daily work, skill improvement, and written tests.

In track and field we are working on starts, hand-offs, shot put, long jump, and high jump. We are running sprints, distance, and relays.

In golf we are working on grip, stance, and posture in the short and long swings. We are playing various golf games on our "course" including scotch doubles, scramble, best ball, and stroke play. Golf rules.

We will do a field trip to Zigfield Troy during a Physical Education class period to hit "real" golf balls at the driving range.

The following extra credit is available: hit a bucket of balls at a driving range and/or play a round of golf.

Flag football is the next activity, with passing, catching and pass patterns as our main points. Check the rules (girls) out. We play 4 downs to score. See also football rules (boys).

Football extra credit: watch one quarter of a game and outline the plays, such as, run, run, pass, punt, runback, pass, pass, field goal, kick off.

In volleyball we will be working on passing, serving, positioning, and offensive tactics.

Click on volleyball rules to see the rules of the game.

In bowling we stress the approach and release and scorekeeping. We will do a field trip to a bowling alley to practice our skills. Bowling study guide.

Fitness concepts are also part of our curriculum. We do aerobic workouts 3 times a week. These include jump roping, step aerobics, and 10 minute runs.

Heart monitors are used during runs to help students work on pacing, with the goal being to keep the heart rate up in the target zone. These runs are graded on the amount of time in the target zone, with one point for each minute in the zone. Here is a copy of the running record sheet.
