7th Grade Activities
2nd Trimester

Our curriculum for the second trimester includes dance, weight training, basketball, rollerblading, bags, pickleball, and table tennis, in addition to fitness activites. Activity grades are based on daily work, skill improvement, and written tests.

Line and Square Dance: We will spend the month of December working on various line dances, including the Electric Slide and Slappin' Leather. In square dancing, we will work on basic and advanced figures. . |

Students will be playing Bags as part of our "recreation" unit. We use official BAGGO game boards and students compete with each other and keep their own scores! |

During basketball we will work on the skills of shooting, dribbling, and passing and the understanding of game rules and positioning. Our basketball test will be to take the rules of basketball and put them into a mind web using the "Inspiration" program. |

Wellness will concentrate on fitness principles of stretching and strengthening major muscle groups, along with the FITT principle of working out. |

Fitness concepts are also part of our curriculum. We do aerobic workouts 3 times a week. These include jump roping, step aerobics, and 10 minute runs.

Besides being an aerobic workout, jump roping's focus is on combining skills in sequence to incorporate into a routine to be performed during the third trimester. |

|
Step aerobics also builds cardio endurance while working toward the ability to combine moves into a sychronized routine. |

Running is a cardio activity during which students are asked to maintain a steady pace in the target heart rate zone. The concepts of pacing and perceived exertion are stressed. Students wear heart monitors to help them maintain a steady pace. Running record. |
