8th Grade Study Guides

 

 Fitness assessment: Complete Fitnessgram Physical Fitness Tests and compare results to Fall scores. Analyze individual fitness plan for effectiveness of meeting goals. Worth 50 points.


 Racquet sports written tests: students will have the choice of taking a written test on pickleball, badminton, and tennis, or

of developing a web page or power point presentation on the rules of ONE of those 3 sports.


 

 Pickleball: Work on forehands, backhands, and volleys. Display an understanding of the rules of single and/or doubles and demonstrate that understanding through game play. For the rules of pickleball check these sights out.


 

 Table Tennis, singles and doubles: Work on the skills of the games. Demonstrate and understanding of the rules by applying them to a game situation.


 

 Badminton: Work on game skills and apply them to a game situation. Demonstrate and understanding of the rules of singles and doubles by applying them to a game.


 

 Softball: Work on the skills of hitting and fielding, of base running, and of the rules as related to a game situation.


 

 Tennis: Work on forehands, backhands, and serves. Use the "lobster" to help with stroke practice. Apply tennis scoring to mini games. More rules.


 

 Develop a group jump rope routine that incorporates 8 different moves, faces all 4 walls, is synchronized and is 2 minutes long.


 

 Develop a group step routine that incorporates ten different step moves, uses all sides of the step, faces all 4 wall, is 2 minutes long, is synchronized, and moves at a pace sufficient to elevate the heart rate to near the target zone. See steps #1 or steps #2 for more ideas.

The routine is worth 30 points.

 

 

 Soccer will work on the skills of ball handling and positioning. More rules.
