Highlights from the June 13, 2016
District 66 Board of Education Meeting:



2016-17 School Day Start Times
We will maintain the current bell schedules at each of the schools for the 2016-17 school year. During the 2016-17 school year, we will have discussions with staff and parents through the District Leadership Team and the Community Advisory Group in order to make the necessary improvements to the student bell schedules for the 2017-18 school year. A recommendation is expected at the December 12, 2016 Board of Education meeting.


Master Facilities
Plan
Wight & Co. presented two additional scenarios (7 and 8ab) to the Board of Education for review. All scenarios are designed to address the following categories of necessary improvements: 1) Health, Life Safety, & Security; 2) Infrastructure; and 3) Future-Ready Learning Environment. The Board will discuss the scenarios in detail at the June 27, 2016 Committee of the Whole meeting. Click here for an overview of the entire Master Facilities Planning process.


Community Advisory Group (CAG)
The CAG met before the Board meeting with 14 people in attendance. The committee discussed facility scenarios 7 and 8ab in relation to a potential referendum.

Changes in Faculty/Staff
New Hires for the 2016-17 School Year:

  • Amy Burrows – 7th Grade Language Arts at Lakeview Jr. High School
  • Sarah Focken – 8th Grade Math at Lakeview Jr. High School
  • Lisa Donar – Special Education 3-5 at Prairieview School

We have the following positions open:

  • Bus Driver
  • Substitute Bus Drivers
  • Substitute Teacher
  • Substitute Paraprofessionals

Recognition and Celebration
Dr. Arnold and the Board of Education recognized Board Secretary Joanne Blaze on her upcoming retirement from Center Cass School District 66.
