District 66 Board of Education Meeting:

Recognitions and Celebrations:

The Board recognized the following Lakeview students for their achievements in art: Cassandra Repole, Abigail Durkin, Nathaniel Nowak, Gretchen Scheck, Michael Sutarov, Bianca Mojica, Gwendolynne Royle, and Patrick Wagner. Their artwork was on display at the meeting and students in attendance were presented with a Certificate of Achievement.

1st Grade Presentation – STEAM Day
The first grade team presented “Making Steam with the First Grade Team”. TEAM 66 was acknowledged for awarding the grant that made this event possible. The team also highlighted their partnership with the Indian Prairie Public Library for this successful event. To view the presentation, click here.

State History Fair Qualifiers
Congratulations to the following 7th grade students for qualifying for the State History Fair: History Fair ParticipantsBrenna Humphris, Ryan Rosignal, Allison Ford, Ysabel Pakowski, Nathan Nowak, Michael Joseph, Hajira Choudry, Emily Reyes, Adriana Loconti, Cassie Repole, Bella Chlada, Katie Bastuga, and Anna Bastuga. The hard work and research these students dedicated to their projects is admirable. Two of these students, Brenna Humphris and Ryan Rosignal, will represent Lakeview Jr. High as 2017 National History Day qualifiers!

Personnel Report:

New Hires
Samantha Gari, currently a long-term sub in 5th grade at Prairieview, has been hired as a 5th grade teacher for 2017-18.

Tracy Spakausky, currently a 5th grade teacher at Prairieview, is tranferring to a 4th grade teacher for 2017-18.

Committee of the Whole Meeting Date Changed
The May 22nd Committee of the Whole meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. at Prairieview.

Implementation of Repairs, Security, Renovations, and Additions
The Board approved several items as a result of the recent Referendum:

  • The Board authorized Tri-County Locators to locate underground utilities at Elizabeth Ide and Lakeview.
  • The Board also approved TFW Surveying and Mapping, Inc. to conduct a topographic survey at Elizabeth Ide and Lakeview.
  • The bid process for enhanced security entrances at Elizabeth Ide and Prairieview will proceed as soon as the final design is completed.

Prairieview Water Damage Repair
The Board authorized the bid process to address the water damage that occurred at Prairieview prior to the roof replacement.

Intergovernmental Agreement for Shared Transportation Services
The Board approved an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Board of Education of Center Cass School District 66 and the Board of Education of Cass School District 63 for cost sharing of Transportation Director expenses. Tom Tiede will serve as Transportation Director for both districts starting in 2017-18. This is an administrative cost-saving measure for the District and will not impact students riding buses.
