Construction beginning on the “new” Ide School

Construction beginning on the “new” Elizabeth Ide School
Posted on 04/07/2018

Construction is beginning:  This past Monday the Darien City Council approved the plans for the “new” Ide School and by Thursday, the construction fencing was installed in preparation for the work that will begin shortly.  The construction office/trailer should be delivered next week and at that point, the work will begin!

Safety: The safety of our students and staff has been at the forefront of all phases of the planning for this project and the fencing and location of the construction office are a part of the emphasis on safety.  All workers on site will need to first pass a background check completed by the Illinois State Police, prior to being allowed on school property.  Access to the construction site will be strictly monitored by the site foreman.

Construction bid update: Bids for the work at Ide School were distributed in two bid packages - site work and construction work.  The bid for site work was completed in February and approved by the Board of Education on March 13.  This is the work that is beginning now and will be completed before students return to school in 2018-19.

The second construction bid was completed in March and will be presented to the Board of Education for approval on April 10.

Weekly Building Our Future updates:  Now that visible progress is being made on the project, we will provide weekly updates. This is an exciting time for District 66!
