Implementation Timeline

While there are many board-level decisions that still remain to be made, as well as a multitude of smaller tasks in order to keep moving forward, a broad timeline for implementation includes the following:

April-June 2017: Creating schematic designs for renovations and additions to Ide School and Lakeview Jr. High.  Two Design Advisory Committees were developed for this purpose and the committees include 20 teachers, 10 community members and administrators, and all board members.  The committee has had six meetings and have two more scheduled.

July-September 2017: Design development for the renovations and additions to Ide School and Lakeview Jr. High.  During this phase, the architects create detailed plans based on the input received in order to create bid specs for construction documents.

October-December 2017: Construction documents are finalized for the renovations and additions to Ide School and Lakeview Jr. High.  During this phase, the architects create final plans that will be used for the bidding process.  The Board of Education will have final approval.

January-February 2018: The legal bidding process takes place.  During this phase, contractors submit bids and the Board of Education selects the lowest responsible bidder.  It should be noted that the Lakeview Jr. High process may actually be a few months ahead of this timeline due to the relatively limited scope of the work.

April-August 2018:  The actual construction begins at both Ide School and Lakeview Jr. High.  While students are still in school, it is anticipated that only exterior with will be done.  However in June 2018 the interior renovations will begin at both schools.  Lakeview is expected to be completed prior to the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, while Ide School will need the summer of 2019 to complete the addition.  Any security improvements identified in the district-wide Security Assessment should also be completed.

March-August 2019:  The addition and all other work at Ide School is expected to be completed by the start of the 2019-20 school year.
