Parent University - Social Emotional Learning

SEL Wheel

District 66 hosted its’ first Parent University on Saturday, March 10, 2018.  Approximately 70 parents attended this event. The morning started out with a general overview of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) by Director of Student Services, Kimberly Liles.  A great resource for parents to use at home to support SEL is the Parent Toolkit

The featured speaker for the Parent University was Detective (Ret.) Richard Wistocki.  Detective Wistocki has been a law enforcement officer for 30 years. He is a cyber-crime expert and applies his experiences in teaching parents how to be better parents. He presented on cyber-safety for parents.  Detective Wistocki has his own consulting firm, BeSureConsulting.  This website contains valuable resources for parents.

If parents were unable to attend Detective Wistocki’s presentation they are encouraged to go to the Naperville Police Cyber-Safety Website to view his presentation.  In addition, there are many other valuable resources for parents on this site.

Due to the overwhelming positive response from Detective Wistocki’s Parent University presentation, District 66 has arranged for Detective Wistocki to present to our students (grades 5-8) in early April.  This presentation will take place during the school day. Questions regarding this presentation should be directed to your building principal.

We look forward to future Parent University opportunities. Please direct ideas and suggestions for future topics to Kimberly Liles, Director of Student Services (kliles@ccsd66.org).
