IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Dear Parents and Students:

 

Welcome to 8 th Grade! I am sure your final year at Lakeview Junior High will be a wonderful experience. My name is Miss Smith, and I am the 8 th Grade Science teacher. I am so excited for this year and I have many fun ideas in store for you! I believe in a family style environment in my classroom and want to form positive relationships with each one of you. I am sending a copy of Class Policy, Grading Scale, and Safety Precautions home. Please review and feel free to contact me with any questions and concerns.

 

This year in science we will be extending our knowledge in Physical Science, the study of matter and energy. This school year we will be participating in an extensive unit on roller coasters. This unit is going to require groups of students to create their own roller coaster, and a proposal including all the dynamics of this roller coaster. I ask all of you to begin brainstorming together at home! What would your ideal roller coaster look like? What kind of drops, loops, and spirals would you like to have on your ideal roller coaster? Very soon, you will see how this all relates to science!! This year we will also incorporate the Physics of Sport and the Chemistry of Forensics into the curriculum. As you can see, it is going to be a very exciting year!
