English Language Learners
District 66 services English Language Learners through a variety of ways, based on student needs. The district employs a full-time EL Teacher, Ms. Alexandra Nodarse (anodarse@ccsd66.org).
Due to the number of students who speak the same language, the district services EL students through a TPI Model. TPI is a Transitional Program of Instruction. This programming option is available when a district has 19 or fewer EL students from the same language background. District 66 offers English as a second language (ESL) and native language support as needed and when possible.
All new students to District 66 complete a Home Language Survey. If a parent indicates another language is spoken at home, then their child is screened for EL services. This screening is completed within the first 30 days of attendance. If a child is eligible for EL services as a result of this screening parents receive written notification and are asked to sign consent for services.
