Last Friday, Lakeview hosted its 2nd Annual Homecoming Celebration. Created last year by Band Director Tom Tedeschi, it quickly became one of the best events of the school year. In his words:
"The word "Homecoming" in District 66 takes on a little different meaning than the traditional Homecoming at the high school. Our "Homecoming" celebration revolves around celebrating School Spirit and support for our school district."
This is exactly what was accomplished. Community members, parents and Prairieview students lined the Fairmount Ave. in Bruce Lake and the school campus to watch the parade that was led by the amazing Marching Spartans. All 3 mascots entertained the crowd while other participants were shown appreciation with handmade signs. Student clubs and sports at Lakeview were pridefully represented as well.
Following the parade, a pep rally was held in the gym for the Lakeview students. The excitement was palpable. In fact, most were hard of hearing after the cheering and chanting. Speeches were given by administrators and students speaking of the importance of being involved and showing school spirit.
It was a day that confirmed once again how outstanding District 66 truly is.
