Each year on November 15, Illinois celebrates School Board Member Day—a time to recognize the dedicated volunteers who serve on local boards of education. Established by the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), this day honors those who devote countless hours to supporting students, families, and staff while guiding the vision and policies of their districts.
The 2025 theme, “The Heart of Local Education,” highlights the vital role school board members play in keeping students at the center of every decision. Their leadership, commitment, and compassion ensure schools remain strong, student-focused, and connected to the community.
